STU BA: Prof. Dagmar Cagáňová on the SPEKTRUM 2021/2022 #1–2 / ŽENA VO VEDE: Cez prekážky ku hviezdam / Through barriers towards the stars
Our colleague from STU BA, Prof. Dagmar Cagáňová gave an interview for the magazine of the Slovak Technical University of Bratislava and talked about CALIPER, its goals and the vision for gender equality in the STEM field.
Dagmar talked about her work in CALIPER and the importance to bring gender equality, not only internally in the research institutions, but also in our local research and innovation ecosystems. On the occasion of the GEP eligibility criterion from the European Commission, the institutions have the opportunity to integrate the gender dimension in all internal functions and promote innovation inside and out of their organisation. The interviewer asked Dagmar when did she realise that the issue of gender equality is important and she talked about how the example of her family and children and the disproportionate burden that lies on women in terms of caregiving. Regarding the women in management positions, she stated that she has heard the opinion that women need to work a lot more than men in order to acquire a top management position.
